Cities define themselves through architecture. They are inspired by art, which is often created by professional artists. But what happens when the residents themselves become artists? “Urban Art Projection” toys with this question. Light connects a digital screen with people and architecture.
“Urban Art Projection” is a live media production of urban art and creation on buildings using projection mapping and a painter application. Visitors create art on entire building facades, supported by help functions on a digital easel, while others look on, live. The Urban Artists create their works of art freehand, using normal brushes or even prefabricated patterns and patches.
During the painting process, the resulting artwork is applied to Offenbach's main train station using projection mapping. “Urban Art Projection” allows the play with urban iconographic representations, prefabricated graphic elements and unique, hand-painted pieces in the context of a complex building façade, as well as spontaneous creativity at the moment of production.
The first installation, “Urban Art Cloud”, took place during Munich’s Street Life Festival in October 2014 – with artworks projected onto Munich's Siegestor. After this first impressive action, the Urban Art Cloud travelled around the world.

CPP Studios is a production agency at the interface of creation and technology. With their own software and hardware development, a bunch of creative talents and a really unusual "economically democratic" corporate culture, they take on both tough industrial jobs as well as artistic projects.
