Inspired by the vision of designer Paul van Laar, the quartet creates both a mystical and surreal space between art, technology and nature – the TRILIGHT. This is realized by mixing organic and molecular structures with the digital world, creating an impressive symbiosis of large-scale geometric forms and flowing movements, interacting to produce light plays. The movement of organically pulsating light allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the TRILIGHT world, thus creating a sense of calm and familiarity. Visitors are invited as observers or even co-creators, so they can interact with the TRILIGHT, as well as among themselves. The basic element of the installation is the so-called "Tensegrity" structure, whereby the installation is composed of individual beams held together by tension elements (in this case steel cables), without them touching each other. This creates the impression of a floating installation. Apart from spectacle, aesthetics and interactivity, TRILIGHT’s sustainability is in the foreground. Here, sustainability stands for the design of an ecologically responsible for long-term realization. Its method of construction means that, following the Luminale, the TRILIGHT’s elements and materials can be reused for other applications.
The versatile creators of the TRILIGHT consist of Paul van Laar, Sebastian Peter, Paul Weber and Max Nowack. With their combined knowledge in the diverse areas of design, communication, engineering and software development, the quartet’s goal is to use illustrate current issues (such as sustainability) through an impressive light show.
