The building Die Welle meanders along Reuterweg not far from the Alte Oper. The installation "Through the wave flows a sea of lights" thematizes the inner courtyard of the 3-part building – the so-called Promenade. The acre agency, in cooperation with Irrlicht Veranstaltungstechnik and designer/DJ Martin Kühnel, have designed a light and sound installation that transforms the Promenade Path into a sea of lanterns.
The LEDs mounted on the lanterns, which can be controlled individually, are fed with digital visual and tonal content, transposing them into a moving carpet of light, which visitors, too, can transform. The exciting transformation is accompanied by electronic sounds and set pieces from the underwater world.
The overall composition of the sea of lanterns, sound and visitor participation, creates a symbol of primordial romantic reflection on light and its effect, in the inner courtyard of the wave. Thus, the Wave becomes a temporary place of refuge in the middle of Frankfurt.
