The aim of the light installation "The feeling of nostalgia in the digital world" is connection with oneself, both with the past and with the future.
The junior house is illuminated on two sides – the two sides represent two time dimensions, the past and the future. One side reflects the romance of our memories and is spherical, while the other shows our digitally-stamped future, represented in the form of pixels. Thus, earlier memories are stimulated, evoking feelings of nostalgia, while the domain of digitality is also understood. Essentially, one of these emotions is dominant depending on the influence of light. Between the light play of past and future, the heart beats and pulses. To highlight this effect, the staircase is illuminated in red, standing metaphorically for the heart.
In the course of a project week, students from the Faculty of Architecture/Interior Design at the Dusseldorf University of Applied Sciences explored the relationship of light in reference to digitalization and its realization.
