Mobile Lichtcluster is a project with schools and pupils. Under pedagogical and professional guidance, light sculptures are built, which are presented by the pupils together at Luminale in a light parade through the city centre.
The movement is intended to generate 100 watts. This is a descriptive amount of energy that corresponds to the average heat radiation of a human being or the consumption of a classical light bulb like the one used a few years ago. With this amount of energy the Mobile Light Clusters shall be brought to life.
How can a light sculpture that works in all respects be built with simple materials? How do I design lights that are convincing in form, but also in function? Can something performative develop from movement? Students can experience the energy generation process, which may be temporarily stored for a short time and then discharged like lightning. What is the significance of efficiency and effectiveness, what aspects of sustainability need to be considered? Interdisciplinary ecological questions will be asked, as well as the topics art/design, mechanics/physics and electrics.
Not only the pupils of the participating classes should take part in the light parade. Invited are all students of the respective schools with their parents and interested visitors
The Umwelt-Exploratorium is a non-profit association that works in holistic education. The work of the U-X starts in the field of environmental as well as cultural education. The aim is to promote environmental awareness and social participation in the context of sustainable development. Together with experts from various fields, exciting learning and research formats are being developed in order to make them understandable and tangible.
