Meisterklasse von Prof. Michael Riedel
During the Luminale, the church of St. Antonius becomes a place of art. The works will be shown in the otherwise little-used or even inaccessible side rooms of the church, apart from a performance that will take place in the nave. The exhibition explicitly puts "unplaces" into the light, the rest of the church remains in the dark. This transformation is heralded by the illuminated sign "Turned Off" that gives the exhibition its title. Paradoxically, darkness without light is difficult to depict. This is true even of Malevich's black square, in which the black surface is also contrasted by a thick white border.
Prof. Michael Riedel's master class at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig currently consists of six visual artists working in the fields of installation, sculpture, performance, video, drawing and painting. These include Ronny Bulik, Manuel Cornelius, Ellen Möckel, Larissa Mühlrath, Georg Thanner and Sebastijan Zupancic.
