Evangelische Luthergemeinde Frankfurt am Main
Christian Schwarz
As of Sunday, 8th March, the glass facade of the Lutherkirche with its community center and striking large-format Meistermann textile prints will be illuminated every evening for the Luminale.
Based on an idea and produced by Christian Schwarz, this year’s motto “Look” consists of an alternating color spectrum, inviting visitors to look and linger in the church square. The temporary building installation thus suggests many associations. The lights’ change of color at one-minute intervals is reminiscent of the color spectrum of the gradually emerging rainbow, which inspires a moment of meditation, or directs the gaze onto the Lutherkirche as a multicolored, diverse and open church in the district.
“Look” is at the same time, an invitation to enter, look and listen in the Lutherkirche. On Luminale evenings from March 12th to 15th, Ralf Tjabben`s synesthetic organ-light composition "Sinnes!Organ", invites visitors into the church hall, filled with light and music from the Walcker organ.
Christian Schwarz lives and work as a creative communicator and textile interior designer in Frankfurt. Since 2004, he has performed regularly with various artists, collectives and cultural institutions in public venues and establishments around Berger Strasse. Thereby, the Lutherkirche is a regular focus of his light productions, where he also designed the colorful, building-high Meistermann textile prints as an impressive permanent installation for the glass façade of the Community Center.
