Architekturkollektiv Zukunftshafen e.V.
In global terms, cities are responsible for a large proportion of all CO₂ emissions. Sustainable, energy-efficient planning and construction therefore offers enormous savings potential.
Since 2015, the Frankfurt Sustainability Centre PIER F - Port of the Future Frankfurt has been drawing attention to sustainable building solutions through guided tours and lectures in showroom areas and at seminars and workshops. One its current projects is the development of a corresponding concept for the vacant building of a logistics company in Fechenheim. In cooperation with the owner, the intention is gradually to create what the PIER-F makers see as a living showroom, laboratory and experimental area: from sustainable building solutions to structural climate adaptations (roof and façade greening, unsealing surfaces, etc.) to interiors with curtains and carpets made of "green" materials, they’re open to everything. Initiator Susanne Petry can also envisage tiny houses on the outdoor areas of the site and a café run as a sustainably designed concept for the neighbourhood. In this way, the GREEN SHOWHOUSE FERDI is not only intended to make a contribution to a climate-friendly city, but above all, be an example that motivates people to rethink and emulate.

Susanne Petry founded the architecture platform AiD - Architecture in Dialogue in 2010, which quickly made a name for itself through lecture events on the subject of sustainable building and the KLIMAtours, developed together with the City of Frankfurt. This was followed in 2015 by the foundation of the sustainability center PIER F, which expands the AiD idea with formats such as showroom space, sustainability festivals and a magazine. The Zukunftshafen Frankfurt e.V. has been supporting the PIER F goals since 2018.
